Turning Vacant Buildings Into Affordable Housing
Community-led adaptive reuse that transforms vacant properties into deeply affordable housing owned and operated by local, non-market partners
Vacant 2 Vibrant transforms vacant and underused buildings into deeply affordable housing through community-led adaptive reuse. By combining practical refurbishment methods, local partnerships, and innovative project delivery, V2V helps communities create housing faster and at lower cost than new construction while preserving existing neighbourhoods and building long-term community assets. Through this model, vacant properties are revitalized into safe, sustainable housing that supports stronger communities and lasting local impact.
Our Story
Our Projects
Vacant 2 Vibrant successfully delivered its initial four-unit demonstration project on Duke Street in Saint John, New Brunswick. V2V is now advancing a 20-unit adaptive reuse project on Carmarthen Street while expanding the model regionally through a 10-unit conversion project in Nova Scotia, demonstrating the scalability and portability of the approach.
